SparkleTuff™ Transparent Anti-Slip Floor Coating Has Outstanding Chemical Resistance, Zero VOCs

We are sometimes asked if SparkleTuff™, our long-lasting transparent anti-slip floor coating with excellent wet slip resistance, has good resistance to chemicals and cleaning/sanitizing agents. It does! It even stands up well to concentrated sulfuric and hydrochloric acids, ethanol, and sodium and ammonium hydroxides!

SparkleTuff™ Anti-Slip Floor Coating is a polysiloxane, a type of coating that has been on the global market since 1993. SparkleTuff™ is a product exclusively available from Safety Direct America since 2017. Polysiloxanes have extremely good weatherability including UV resistance, graffiti resistance, gloss and color retention, abrasion resistance, and chalk resistance. (The last means it resists forming a fine powder on the surface.) They are resistant to dirt pickup. The table below shows a comparison of polysiloxane to two other types of floor coating systems. SparkleTuff™ has zero VOC’s.

With excellent wet and dry slip resistance as measured by all widely accepted tests (see below), SparkleTuff™ Anti-Slip Floor Coating also has Sustainable Slip Resistance as measured by the McDonalds Restaurants test, indicating that it retains its wet slip resistance after more than a million people have walked across it. At about $1 per square foot, it’s cheaper than a broken hip. Looks great — no slips!
