We offer two Do-It-Yourself (DIY) anti-slip paint-on abrasive floor coatings (each with their own benefits):
- SparkleTuff™ Anti-Slip Floor Coating (below), a clear, glossy (or satin), really long-lasting, very anti-slip floor coating that’s great for ANY situation with no special prep needed. Zero VOCs and has been selling for eight years now without anyone needing to replace it/touch it up yet.
- SolidStepCote Water-Based Anti-Slip Floor Coating, (click here) a “green”, water-based clear anti-slip floor coating, available in many bottle sizes, and dries ready for walking quickly. This is not for commercial applications, but great for residential tubs and other areas with low foot traffic.
At last you can have the flooring you love without fear of injuries due to slips, WET OR DRY! Tile, marble, granite, wood, vinyl, mosaic, tubs, showers, ramps, etc. can meet and exceed OSHA- and ADA-compliant slip resistance (Coefficient of Friction, or COF) levels. In fact, it far exceeds the safety criterion of any slip resistance test there is! When dry, SparkleTuff™ has the same traction as an NBA basketball floor. And wet or dry, SparkleTuff™ is kind to bare feet or paws.
SparkleTuff™ Anti-Slip Floor Coating is safe and easy to apply (just one coat needed!) and is easy to clean. This exclusive super-tough anti-slip floor coating has outstanding wear and chemical resistance, including resistance to acids and alkalis, and can also be used for underwater applications. It has excellent weathering and dirt pickup resistance and strong anti-corrosive characteristics.
SparkleTuff™ Anti-Slip floor, tub and epoxy coating is a transparent, durable high-gloss floor coating that is highly slip resistant (see slip resistance test data) wet or dry. It is very resistant to liquids (including chemicals) and stains. It can be used indoors or outdoors and on any ADA accessible surface. Working time is 1.25 hours after mixing a batch of the two components. One gallon covers 400-500 square feet depending on the porosity of the surface being covered. Drying time is 6-8 hours for light foot traffic at 70°F (leave more time for curing if applied below 70°F, but don’t apply below 50°F). It contains no VOCs or solvents. No special floor preparation necessary on ANY surface (epoxy, concrete, glass, marble, polyurea, polyaspartic, porcelain, vinyl, wood, etc., etc.) – just be sure the floor is clean and dry. SparkleTuff™ Anti-Slip floor coating retains its transparency and gloss far better than practically any other floor topcoat, including the best-of-breed epoxies and polyurethanes, while providing incredible slip resistance. It does not require burnishing, and so less aggressive cleaning with safer cleaning agents and softer bristle pads or brushes is possible. A special roller cover is required, sold only here, for best results. Here’s some application instructions for SparkleTuff™ Anti-Slip Floor Coating:
You’ll want to mix the SparkleTuff™ non-skid floor coating often during the application process to assure the grit doesn’t fall to the bottom of the bucket or paint tray. There’s no need to measure the two components if you’re mixing the entire contents of a gallon, quart, etc. Just mix the two containers together thoroughly a be sure not to spill any of the Part B! It’s the hardener.
Once you’ve installed an anti-slip floor or anti-slip floor coating, a mop and some dirty water will probably not be sufficient for cleaning. Here’s how to clean anti-slip floors.
