ASTM C 1028-07 Slip Testing

The ASTM C 1028-07 SCOF slip test was withdrawn by the ASTM in 2014. However, some specifiers and contracts still require this test. Specifiers will usually ask that the flooring achieve a 0.60 static coefficient of friction (SCOF) or greater for level floors, and 0.80 or greater for ramps. This test was used for many years despite the fact that it had no valid research to back up the results. This is a very poor way to assess pedestrian safety and slip risk, but we still do this test both in the lab and on-site often for various clients. The test method calls for three samples at least 6″x6″, but we can do the test on one sample or smaller samples as well if necessary.

The charge is $320.00 per sample. Turnaround time for laboratory testing is usually 2-3 days. You can pay by credit card, Paypal, send a check with your sample, or wire transfer. We need to know the name of the client (for the purpose of the report), how you would like the sample named, and we need an email address to send the report to. Your report will be certified and stamped by a registered Professional Engineer. You can also pay for the test online by clicking the “Pay Now” button below, and then just send the info along with your samples (carefully packed) to:
