Floor Slip Resistance (COF) Test

We will test your flooring samples in our lab for the coefficient of friction using the slip resistance test method you indicate, and then email you a certified test report signed and stamped by a registered professional engineer, usually within 2-3 days of receiving your sample(s). Please include a copy of your receipt in the box with your sample and let us know what you’d like the sample called on the report. Here’s lots more information on our floor slip resistance testing services. Be sure to let us know if you’d like us to use the softer rubber instead of the standard hard rubber on the pendulum test. The soft rubber is for barefoot areas.

Description

Slip resistance (coefficient of friction) testing will be conducted on your flooring sample using the test method you choose (we recommend the ASTM E303 pendulum slip test, or the ANSI A326.3/A137.1 test, generally, for lab DCOF testing) and you will be emailed a certified slip test report signed and stamped by a registered professional engineer, usually within 2-3 days of receiving your sample(s). Send a copy of your slip resistance test receipt with your flooring sample so we know where to send results. The pendulum slip resistance test has been in use for over 50 years and is in use in at least 50 nations, and has lots of real-world slip and fall research behind it. The ANSI A326.3 and ANSI A137.1 slip test (or “DCOF AcuTest”) was updated in 2021, but sets a very low bar for safety and says it is for “comparing surfaces”, not assessing slip risk.
